    you don’t need a credit card if you go through a local travel agent but it’s not a good idea to take all your cash with you on holidays in those sorts of countries- or anywher for that matter. You’ll need a way to keep your money safe and still have access to it. If you don’t want a credit card or can’t get approved then try a debit card. You can use that for all your bookings and can withdraw your own money from the ATM when you’re there.

    Yes, just bring your whole money on your wallet and then wait for a thief.
    Or, bring your bank to Bali.

    You don’t need a credit card, you can use eftpos or take cash (if you are game). There are eftpos machines everywhere and they are very easy to use. They are even in boxes, like old phone boxes, which lock while you are using them, they are also airconditioned!!!

    You can pay for nearly anything in Indonesia in cash. Credit cards are not necessary. Travelers cheques aren’t really necessary either. Just bring an ATM debit card for withdrawing cash or paying for things direct debit. The rest you can pay for directly in cash.

    FYI, taking a wad of cash is not smart. You’re just asking to get mugged. Take a small amount of cash to change at the airport just to cover your initial taxi to your hotel, dinner and maybe for necessities for the next day. You’ll be able to find ATMs everywhere.

    Do i need particular branded eftpos i have a suncorp card that literally has eftpos only… do i need cirrus etc?
